2005 Working Conference of Red Cross Society of China (RCSC)

The “2005 Working Conference of Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) & Naming and Prize-giving Ceremony of National Demonstration City (area) of Community Red Cross Service” was held on February 25 in the beautiful coastal city of Xiamen. TIENS President Li Jinyuan attended the meeting as a director of RCSC along with RCSC leaders including President Ms. Peng Peiyun, the former Vice Chairwoman of Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. At the same time, in order to support the development of Red Cross in China, President Li and Vice President Bai Ping donated RMB 1 million which was received by RCSC President Peng Peiyun.

RCSC, the united national Red Cross organization in the People’s Republic of China, is a social relief organization which provides humanitarian work. It aims to mobilize humanitarian forces and improve the conditions of the most vulnerable groups and firmly abides by the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality, promoting the spirits of Humanity, Charity and Giving, and actively serving in relief work during times of war, disaster and emergency.

Community Red Cross service is the traditional country-wide work of RCSC, which actively assists the government and helps its people during times of difficulty. At the meeting leaders from 30 outstanding cities (areas) received commendations and awards from RCSC. President Li, as the director of RCSC personally presented the medals and certificates to representatives and leaders.

At the meeting, RCSC President Peng Peiyun personally presented the Fraternity Medal to Ms. Bai Ping, the Vice President of Tiens Group, to commend her vast contribution to charity over the years. Ms. Bai Ping delivered a passionate speech which won thundering applause from all representatives.
