Tianshi Today

On April 19th, 2007, Mr. Zhang Baoqing, Chairperson of China Education Development Foundation, accompanied by Mr. Chen Xiyuan, Vice Secretary-general, and Mr. Dong Jun, Secretary of the Foundation, paid a visit to Tiens Group and Tianshi College. President Li Jinyuan engaged in a conversation with Mr. Zhang, in the company of the Tianshi College President, Vice President and their assistants.

President Li Jinyuan began their meeting with an introduction to TIENS’ challenges and successes throughout its development. He introduced the planning and construction of the TIENS International Health Industrial Park, emphasizing the objective in the next few years of becoming one of global Top 500 enterprises. President Li stressed that “One who becomes wealthy should not forget to repay his hometown, his motherland and his people.” President Li gave a detailed review of the charitable activities in which Tiens Group had participated since its establishment, from supporting and aiding Tibet and Xinjiang, donating to the anti-SARS campaign, providing relief for flood-ridden areas of Songhuajiang and Nengjiang Rivers, supporting the Tianshi BoAi Primary Schools, establishing the TIENS West Talent Program for relieving tsunami-stricken Indonesian regions, and supporting the reconstruction of post-earthquake Pakistan. TIENS’ charitable activities have spread across the country and the rest of the world. When talking about Tianshi College, Mr. Li told the guests that the Group continued to support Tianshi College even at several particularly difficult financial times at Tiens Group. President Li was driven by a dream of building a first-class international college so as to contribute to the education sector in China.

Chairperson Zhang expressed his admiration for the fast development and charitable contributions of Tiens Group in recent years. He agreed with President Li on his managing philosophy, innovative ideas and strategic vision. Mr. Zhang made a detailed introduction of the operational concept and service principles of the China Education Development Foundation which embraced the principle of lending support to the needy. Mr. Zhang stated that Tianshi College should be a school with its own distinctive features and supported President Li’s vision of Tianshi College as an international university. Mr Zhang confirmed that he would support Tianshi College during the Ministry of Education’s appraisal process for the upgrading of the College to a bachelor-degree granting school.

After the meeting, Mr. Zhang and his entourage were escorted by the Tianshi College President and other personnel to visit Tianshi College. The visitors expressed their interest by making enthusiastic comments on various aspects of the college.

On the evening of April 18th, 2007, Mr. Li Jinyuan, President of Tiens Group attended the reception banquet given by SEIM (Strategic European Investment Management Ltd.) at the Beijing Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Present at the banquet were Mr. Fan Fuchun, Vice-Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, Mr. Li Xiaojun, Secretary-general of the China Association for the Promotion of Industrial Development, Geng Ying, Chairman of the World Natural & Cultural Heritages Foundation in China, and Frank Sieren, author of The China Code.

The banquet started at 7:30 pm with the opening speech delivered by Dr. Dana Schuppert, Chairman and CEO of SEIM. Afterwards dinner was served to the guests.

As a specially invited guest, President Li Jinyuan engaged in conversation with other attendees. During the banquet, frequent exchanges of business cards occurred between Mr. Li and friends from the press circle. When the author of The China Code, Frank Sieren, received President Li’s name card and saw the TIENS logo, he gave an excited thumbs up and said “I know it “.

On April 15, 2007, the launch ceremony of “Warming China: Western Women Sunshine Plan” and the Founding Conference of the Western China Charity Committee was held at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Mr. Li Jinyuan, President of Tiens Group, was appointed as vice chairman of the Western China Charity Committee.

Present at the meeting were Ismail Amat, Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress, Mr. Zhang Shiping, Secretariat of ACWF (All-China Women’s Federation), Mr. Xian Sizhong, Chairman of the State-owned Enterprises Supervision and Administration Commission of SASAC (State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission), and other representatives from the United Front Work Department of the central committee of CCYL (Chinese Communist Youth League), Beijing Municipality, and Xinjiang and Inner Mongolian Autonomous Regions.

President Li addressed the participants of the conference, introducing Tiens Group, and donating four ambulances to China’s poverty-stricken Western areas.

About 50 media organizations reported the conference, including China National Radio, CCTV, Phoenix, Beijing TV Station, Xinhua News Agency, the People’s Daily, CPPCC Daily, Xinjiang Daily, People.com.cn, Xinhua.net, Sina.com, Sohu.com and VOC.com.cn.

Between April 6th and 7th, Mr. Tomur Dawamat, former Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and his wife paid a two-day visit to Tiens Group and Banner Store. Other visitors accompanying the former Vice Chairman were Abuniyaz, Director of Bureau of Cultural Affairs of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and his wife, and three other well-known Uigurian directors including Urmar Shayimu, Mehmetrozi and Muhetar Bogra.

On April 6th, President Li Jinyuan introduced the overall situation and development plan of Tiens Group to Mr. Tomur Dawamat and his group. Mr. Tomur Dawamat expressed appreciation for TIENS’ achievements and social charity and public welfare in the past years, in particular, its contributions to charity and public welfare in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and other minority regions of China.

In the afternoon, accompanied by the leaders of the Tianjin NPC and President Li Jinyuan, Mr. Tomur Dawamat visited the exhibition hall of Tiens Group. The group watched a film of the Tiens Group Today and visited the company’s automatic production workshop. Later, the former Vice Chairman and others visited the nearby Tianshi College, newly-built Office Block D and the construction site of the TIENS International Healthcare Industrial Park.

In the evening, employees of Tiens Group presented a wonderful performance featuring Xinjiang flavor for Mr. Tomur Dawamat and other honored guests and leaders. The outstanding performance brought the evening to an exciting climax. The guests couldn’t help joining in the performance, singing and dancing with the performers.

On the morning of April 7th, former Vice Chairman Tomur Dawamat and his party set out from Tiens Group to Banner Store. In the training hall of Banner Store, President Li Jinyuan talked about the strategic development plan of Banner Store. At 11 am, the former Vice Chairman and other group members finished their visit to Tiens Group. Accompanied by leaders of the Tianjin NPC and President Li Jinyuan, the group headed for the Tianjin Guest Hotel, where Mr. Zhang Gaoli, Secretary of the Tianjin Committee of the CPC, had a talk and dinner with the former Vice Chairman.
