Chairperson of China Education Development Foundation Visited Tiens
On April 19th, 2007, Mr. Zhang Baoqing, Chairperson of China Education Development Foundation, accompanied by Mr. Chen Xiyuan, Vice Secretary-general, and Mr. Dong Jun, Secretary of the Foundation, paid a visit to Tiens Group and Tianshi College. President Li Jinyuan engaged in a conversation with Mr. Zhang, in the company of the Tianshi College President, Vice President and their assistants.
President Li Jinyuan began their meeting with an introduction to TIENS’ challenges and successes throughout its development. He introduced the planning and construction of the TIENS International Health Industrial Park, emphasizing the objective in the next few years of becoming one of global Top 500 enterprises. President Li stressed that “One who becomes wealthy should not forget to repay his hometown, his motherland and his people.” President Li gave a detailed review of the charitable activities in which Tiens Group had participated since its establishment, from supporting and aiding Tibet and Xinjiang, donating to the anti-SARS campaign, providing relief for flood-ridden areas of Songhuajiang and Nengjiang Rivers, supporting the Tianshi BoAi Primary Schools, establishing the TIENS West Talent Program for relieving tsunami-stricken Indonesian regions, and supporting the reconstruction of post-earthquake Pakistan. TIENS’ charitable activities have spread across the country and the rest of the world. When talking about Tianshi College, Mr. Li told the guests that the Group continued to support Tianshi College even at several particularly difficult financial times at Tiens Group. President Li was driven by a dream of building a first-class international college so as to contribute to the education sector in China.
Chairperson Zhang expressed his admiration for the fast development and charitable contributions of Tiens Group in recent years. He agreed with President Li on his managing philosophy, innovative ideas and strategic vision. Mr. Zhang made a detailed introduction of the operational concept and service principles of the China Education Development Foundation which embraced the principle of lending support to the needy. Mr. Zhang stated that Tianshi College should be a school with its own distinctive features and supported President Li’s vision of Tianshi College as an international university. Mr Zhang confirmed that he would support Tianshi College during the Ministry of Education’s appraisal process for the upgrading of the College to a bachelor-degree granting school.
After the meeting, Mr. Zhang and his entourage were escorted by the Tianshi College President and other personnel to visit Tianshi College. The visitors expressed their interest by making enthusiastic comments on various aspects of the college.
